According to a recently released. "eight to 10 players are set to begin trials in mid-November" testing out a new technology of hockey skate blade geared not only to improve the speed of the game but ideally reduce fatigue among players as well. The heated yes heated skate blade developed by Therma Blade Inc of Verdun. Quebec reduces friction by heating the players' skate blade to just above freezing. That slight amount of melt creates a thin layer of water that acts as a lubricant for the blade and reduces friction between it and the ice. Therma Blade Inc. which include Wayne Gretzky as one of its investors accomplishes this revolutionary technological advancement though its inclusion of a microprocessor-regulated rechargeable battery attached to the blade by a tiny resistor. Try saying that three times fast. Need more clarification? Take a look at the image below. What do I think? Well I'm glad you asked. I don't think the NHL would be as great a game without goalie masks curved blades composite sticks or any other of the less obvious improvements the game has made to help players compete at the highest levels. I see these skate blades as just another progression in the continuous evolution of the sport. Plus there is also the fact that it's being endorsed by "The Great One".

"Time for the "Bullies" To Run Wild Again" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-18 00:10:50

Defenseman Randy Jones has just been slapped with a two-game suspension for “ramming” Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron in the back and driving him face-first into the boards. Steve Downie is sitting for 20 games for one of the greatest flying checks in NHL history and Jesse Boulerice rides the pine for 25 for acting out his displeasure for Ryan Kesler going after his head. This year’s new corporate slogan is “approve With A Vengeance.” So far the Flyers undergo lived up to that without having been wronged first (which implies that one would be “approve” with a “vengeance”) so what’s the injure in intentionally going for the scare tactics and taking further steps to instill fear in the opposition?

"Xbox 360 - NHL 08 Review" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 15:46:55

I am only a recent hockey fan. And sadly enough I have a woman to thank for getting me interested in the feature. My fiancée comes from a family of hockey nuts. Two years ago Christmas I got her hockey tickets to the Columbus color Jackets as a gift (she wanted to see Fedorov play as she’s a big Red Wings fan). I tried to weasel my way out of going but to no apply. You see at this inform. I hated hockey or soccer-on-ice as I liked to call it. Long story short. I went. I loved it and I am now a die-hard Columbus color Jackets fan. abstain forward two years and I now own my third hockey title. And this is probably the first one I have the clout to review as I now fully understand the game of hockey and all it’s intricacies. So while I was scoring goals in the double-digits in previous games it seemed like something was missing. If you know me at all you can anticipate what I wanted: realism. I wanted realistic hockey games. Three-to-one. Two-to-one even scoreless defensive battles that go down to the final minutes of the third period and leave me biting my nails. I am extremely happy to report that NHL 08 offers all this and more. So many things undergo changed this year but you won’t really discover this until you’re on the ice and playing. None of the changes are cosmetic. A completely new skating engine; not a tweaked skating engine but a mark new one built from the fasten up. A new checking system and a new one-on-one control system that adds multitudes of depth. So about this skating engine…it really feels desire you’re skating this year at least as much as can be done with a control fasten. Basically your left thumbstick acts as your skates and your right fasten acts as your hockey stick. It is deceptively simple. No longer can you stop and go away with ease. Real physics are there. If you’re ice-skating and stop accelerating you don’t magically stop (barring a hockey stop to act this bend the stick in the opposite direction). You ordain keep gliding just like in real life. You also can’t expect to start skating at full go alter away it may take a few strides before you’re going full-bore. It works extremely well and it is actually fun to just skate around in practice mode and control your men. Carrying over from measure year there is no speed burst. I like this idea and kudos to EA for sticking with it. It adds realism. One thing that has made hockey games difficult is puck physics. It’s not like football whereas there is a clear controller of the ball at all times. In hockey the puck can be loose for what seems like minutes at a time. This has never been incorporated into a hockey game and EA tries this year. It works a little better than years past but not quite what I was hoping for. It’s still pretty difficult to dislodge the puck from someone just holding it and the puck never stays free when there’s a scrum against the boards. This is disappointing but doesn’t really take away from the overall experience. You can lower the puck hold back slider as I did but I haven’t really noticed it helping much. Passing is another aspect that has to do with puck physics. Passes don’t always find their aim in the NHL and hockey games have always made it too easy to pass. It is better in this game as you will get errant passes and the puck banging off your teammates glide but overall it’s still too easy. I’ve found that lowering the pass speed sliders and cranking up the pass intercept sliders help this however. So you’ve skated you’ve made a great go and now you’re controlling Sidney Crosby with only one man to defeat before you get a clean shot at goal. In games past you deke alter then left and you’re easily around the defender. Not so this year. It may bring home the bacon the first time but the amazing computer AI ordain pick up on it before long and Sidney will probably end up hip-checked and crying on the ice for his mommy. That is to say if you even get the go to him in the first displace as the computer AI ordain most likely undergo learned that play too. It really is that good. You must vary your strategies. Back to the situation at transfer. Sidney’s bearing down on Niklas Lidstrom and you need a move to get by him. Welcome to EA Sports new skill-stick. direct the left bumper and the puck becomes free from your stick. The same control applies when the puck is loose so tilt the right fasten left and your left fasten right and you bump the puck to the left you swerve right where you cater the puck on the other align behind the defender and have a great shot at goal. It sounds mundane but it works almost flawlessly and man is it fun. You can really conclude like you just faked the best defender in the league out of his skates. Again the computer will learn what you do though. Probably more importantly if you try this at the do by measure you’ll basically wind up losing the puck and laid out on the ice. Past the defender.

"ESPN Is The Devil" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 18:12:27

As much as we be hockey to be approve on ESPN. I have to say that they drink. I know. I know that is a broad statement that includes many of the horrors that they perpetrate but the one that is really bothering me right now is the awful fantasy bet that they entertain. Why do I dislike it oh let me count the ways:1 - The game is made live later than any other on the internet. 2 - The pool of players includes guys that have been long retired or are change surface dead. 3 - The interfaces to evaluate said players is horrible - both the Java which goes decrease as hell and the html which is incredibly inaccurate. 4 - Now that the season has finally started the live drafts undergo been screwed up. I have a team that was due to compose two days ago and the computers crashed/froze/who knows so the unify didn't draft until tonight - and as near as I could tell no team was able to find it. 5 - ESPN's solution to the problems? Give you another remove team.. like people be twice the affect. 6 - The be drafts are done through html which makes them astoundingly frustrating and hard to follow. 7 - I am in the third and final year of a keeper league that clearly has owners who haven't checked since the beginning of the first year yet the service hasn't done anything about it. 8 - Team logos are limited to a pathetic goalie disguise template - no I don't want a goalie mask with horns or one that looks desire a pumpkin to represent my team. So all this boils down to the fact that ESPN should be avoided at all costs for fantasy hockey. I've heard that CBS Sportsline's service is ok but a bit limiting. The NHL's in-house bet is mediocre. TSN's is alright but I highly recommend Yahoo!'s as it has the best interface quality mediators who keep bring in of players and great customer service even though the game is remove. Trust me. I know from experience and undergo 14 teams heading into this toughen across four services. I am a geek. I am a diehard hockey fan particularly the New York Rangers. I desire fighting in hockey think the team owners and Gary Bettman are killing the game and hate the Islanders. Devils and Flyers (as is only proper of any Rangers fan). While I do bring home the bacon in sports media. I ordain not belie to undergo an inside ear to the NHL (yet) but as I am obsessed with the sport I do come across a lot of random bits and bytes that I am glad to pass along. As some of you know. I used to send letters and e-mails with my rantings ravings and (often) babblings out so now I am trying to collect them here. Comments and criticism are always welcome; conclude remove to telecommunicate me at.

"The Story Behind The Helmets" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-20 02:19:24

Goalies are popular players among fans for several reasons with the primary one being that they can single-handedly decide the outcome of a bet. The other reason – the goalie mask to believe photos of the Sharks goalie helmets. San Jose’s three current netminders and each have varying works of art on their masks that make them unique. Nabokov’s has been relatively the same for several seasons with the primary mark on each align being a sea creature of some choose holding a fish.“I just told the guy to pick something,” said Nabokov. Team Teal’s top backstop isn’t planning on any study changes.“I’m comfortable with it and I don’t put too much thought into my disguise,” said Nabokov. However those paying attention to the approve of the confine will soon notice a discreet alteration.“This year will be a little different,” said Nabokov. “There ordain be something for Warren (Strelow the Sharks goaltending instruct who passed away measure season) and my kids.”Greiss noted that his helmet will be undergoing a few changes although he pretty much leaves it up to his designer. Currently Greiss’ disguise features the old Sharks logo on the front and the old fin logo on the back.“I wanted something else this year,” said Greiss. “It would have had big jaws opening up about to get a skier. That didn’t bring home the bacon out so it will be another design.”The backside of his disguise features ties to his hometown.“It’s the Bavarian express flag with the lions,” said Greiss. Fans who be to see a adjust work of art should check out Patzold’s face protector. It is a virtual story without words.“(On the right align) there is a diving cage with a whole in it and a loose oxygen store floating to the top,” said Patzold. “There’s a diver’s disguise going drink.”Then the story really gets good. The graphics at the bottom of the bring up depicts a smiling shark with a leg sticking out of its mouth. The entire left align is a giant gesticulate. The backside still shows the Sharks fin logo and a attach memorizing Strelow. Still with the outdated logos something must change.“A new one is coming,” said Patzold. “Something the fans can see from far away. I don’t know what it’s going to be but it will be a big image.”Patzold designed the current model but is leaving it up to the designer this time.“Every time I go away thinking about it. I just waste so much measure,” said Patzold. “It really doesn’t be.”But when it’s alter it is one heck of a statement. Netminding fans still gloriously address former cheat Kelly Hrudey’s goaltending pads that matched his disguise. Everyone has opinions on goaltending masks but Ron Wilson’s favorite might have belonged to the original Sharks netminder. Brian Hayward. “It might be Brian Hayward’s,” said Wilson. “It was one of the first times it had a lot to do with the team.”Sharks Vice President and Assistant command Manager Wayne Thomas a former NHL netminder is a bit more old educate.“Simple as it is. I liked Gerry Cheevers’,” said Thomas. Cheevers who rose to fame in the 1960’s simply had it covered with markings that looked like stitches to repair a cut. LEADERS SHOWING THE WAYEven though he has players skating strong trying to earn roster spots. Wilson is still a fan of his top two point producers leading by example.“It’s important that Joe (Thronton) and Patty (Marleau) are playing like they are on a mission,” said Wilson. comfort it’s not Marleau and Thornton that Wilson has to concern himself with. There are still a few cuts to alter. Wilson feels that whoever ends up on the roster is more than just a streaking player.“They’re called dwell darlings in that they end up starting the season here but they go a little (into the season),” said Wilson. “I don’t see that here it’s just a couple of hard decisions. We had that in Washington and Anaheim where in the season we had to say we were wrong.”PLAY BALLOn Sunday. Oakland A’s super fan and several teammates are going up for the A’s toughen finale. Cheechoo and may participate in throwing out the first pitch in a bit of an unconventional way. Let’s just say hockey sticks may be involved.“I don’t object shooting it,” said Cheechoo also noting he may need to provide the catcher a goalie glove. Fans interested in watch should adjust in to FSN Plus at 1 p m on Sunday. Cheechoo is expected to connect the broadcast booth during the third inning. NEXT GAMESan Jose will host Calgary in their final preseason game Saturday at 7:30 p m at HP Pavilion. Tickets are comfort available at the HP Pavilion Box Office and at www ticketmaster com. "Goalie in Danby's "At the Crease" Finally Revealed by Gretzky: Not ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 06:33:08

Did you hear about the guy whose entire left side was cut off? come up he's all right now. (Thanks Ralph!) The Goalie was Dennis Kemp andso Far. He Cannot be Found The goalie depicted in At the Crease the iconic painting by late Canadian artist Ken Danby has finally been unmasked. For 35 years as Danby's fame as a master of realism spread the 1972 work that catapulted him to fame retained its central mystery: just who was that crouching dark-haired goaltender so strikingly captured on canvas? The question was asked again this week after news that Danby. 67 had died suddenly during a boat move in Algonquin Park. In tribute his greatest work graced the front pages of newspapers across the country and the Art Gallery of Ontario launched a special showing touting At the Crease as "one of this country's defining works of art."But to his death the artist never divulged his affect's identity insisting that At the fold was "never intended to represent a particular player but simply the personification of a goalie."Many argued that the copy must undergo been Ken Dryden today a Liberal MP but back in the 1970s a star goalie with the Montreal Canadiens. Others suspected Danby drew inspiration from Tony Esposito the Chicago Black Hawks' acrobatic (though left-handed) netminder of that era. Now with an back up from none other than hockey great Wayne Gretzky. CanWest News Service has unlocked the secret. The first roll to the masked man's identity surfaced in 2001. That's when Danby after painting a striking portrait of a retiring Gretzky appeared with The Great One to address the new painting on CTV's Canada AM. During the interview. Gretzky said he knew the goalie depicted in At the Crease."The guy that was in the net was playing Junior B hockey for my dad in Brantford at the time," Gretzky said. Danby quickly change state down the subject: "We don't say who it is."Gretzky responded: "You told me I'm not allowed to say it. But he was playing for my dad. And I remember seeing that conceive of for the first time and I told Ken: 'I recognize that guy.' Because I recognized his style."This week following Danby's death. CanWest News function asked Gretzky now the instruct of the Phoenix Coyotes if he would reveal the copy's identity."Dennis Kemp is the name of the goalie," came the say from a Coyotes spokesman. Kemp was a junior hockey goalie who struck his wide menacing stance between the pipes in Brantford and Guelph - Danby's domiciliate for decades - from 1971 to 1973. A former aggroup official with the defunct provincial Junior A Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters confirmed yesterday Kemp was the goalie in Danby's painting. John Prigione the Mad Hatters' statistician and son of the team's former owner knows he said because he was there at the long-demolished Guelph Memorial Gardens to help Danby act photos of the young goalie one night after a Mad Hatters' practice. The photo injure he recalls took about 10 minutes. At the fold was a transformational work for Danby who described how the advent of the goalie mask in the 1960s "haunted" his artist's imagination for years before he finally decided to create the forbidding scene that had go to confront hockeyplayers striding toward the net. The visualise was an instant hit. Within a few years thousands of Canadians who'd never dreamed of owning a bring home the bacon of art had mounted prints of Danby's netminder on their living room walls. The artist's steadfast refusal to address the goalie's adjust identity is summed up in an anecdote that appears on Danby's website."One day a woman complimented me on my painting. At the Crease which she referred to as. 'that painting you did of the goalie. Ken Dryden.' She said that she had desire had a print of it in her home and really enjoyed it. I thanked her but also explained that. 'It isn't an visualise of Ken Dryden.' Looking puzzled she replied. 'Yes it is.' I responded. 'No it isn't.' After a desire pause she loudly explained. 'Yes it is!' I quickly apologized with the realization that she was alter. It's really whoever one wants it to be."A search for information about Kemp led to scattered references to his days as a junior goalie in Brantford - where he was apparently coached by Gretzky's create. Walter - and Guelph where he played the cage for a team led by future NHLer Doug Risebrough. One mystery about the painting comfort lingers. Despite scores of phone calls to Kemp families across Ontario. CanWest News Service has been unable so far to find Dennis Kemp. The talented young goaltender never made it to the NHL but his evident passion for the game - and an artist's moment of creative genius - have made him one of the most famous hockey players in history.© 2007 CanWest Interactive a division of CanWest MediaWorks Publications Inc. "The New, High Scoring NHL?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 12:14:01

The NHL decided to go retro this year. Thats right. Its not so much that they instituted new rules; rather they went approve to some old ones. The hoped for prove has happened--scoring is up 24% from 2003-04. Is the bet more exciting? It seems to be. Are goaltenders and defensemen at a greater disadvantage than they were the last measure the league produced a season of hockey? Definitely. The game has opened up for numerous reasons. The prohibition of the two-line pass is gone and that has opened up more chances for exciting playmaking. Now a defenseman who is still in his own govern can now shoot a pass to a winger breaking across the red lie who catches it and continues over the color line shooting the puck on net. In past seasons that winger would have been whistled for connecting with a two-line pass and the compete would have been dead. For off sides theres the "tag-up rule" which allows offensive players who have preceded the puck into the contend zone to tag-up or touch the blue line and continue with compete. Before if a player were off sides the play would be stopped immediately. The new tag up command has meant fewer whistles stopping the move of the game. When players are allowed to act a play as they are with these rules theres the chance for more shots and more goals. The NHL has noted that the be of shots on goal is also up. One decision that has opened up the bet but initially also slowed it drink relates to defensive play specifically what a defenseman can and cant do. Prior to the go away of the season officials were told by the unify to pay special attention to interference holding hooking--any obstructive play. Especially at the go away of the season there seemed to be an almost constant din of whistles but as teams adjusted to the tighter calls defensemen started relying more on fasten work and there have been fewer whistles. Of course with more calls against defensemen the be of cater plays which change state up compete even more rose thus gives teams a better shot--literally and figuratively--at scoring. Some players former players and commentators have been extremely vocal about this dress. They feel its almost as if the defense has to ask permission before it asserts itself. The fact is that "goon" defenseman just wont cut it in the league anymore. In request to be effective at stopping the offense players now undergo to utilize finer skills such as poke checking. Another command instituted to advise obstruction of compete states that anyone instigating a contend in the final five minutes of a game will acquire a bet act and a one-game suspension. This command enforces the wish of the league to keep compete unhampered and the bet moving. Then theres the incredible shrinking goaltender who is now 11% smaller. Has truncating the net-minders equipment really had much cause? Overall the bulk of the goalies accommodate has been reduced by 11% and sweaters and pants are also less bulky. Pads have been reduced by an advance and gloves and blockers arent as large. When you think about it logically such a reduction probably hasnt had much of an influence on the go in scoring. believe the fact that NHL goaltenders are amazing athletes capable of going to the alter making a pad deliver and then rushing to the other align of the net to forbid a cover around. Theyll do the butterfly and immediately be approve on their skates create from raw material for the bound. They possess extraordinary reflexes having to wait process the last millisecond before they act to a shot. If anything the reduction of bulge may have made these denizens of the crease more mobile and more effective. A decrease of size in goaltending equipment would probably have a drastic effect if the league went back to the 70s and early 80s when pads werent much wider than the tenders legs and anyone who wore a disguise looked like Jason from the Friday the 13th movies. Diminutive gear would certainly prove in more goals and probably more injuries to goalies. Goaltenders have been made more vulnerable to scoring because of the limits the NHL has imposed on handling the puck. If a goalie freezes the puck unnecessarily then he can be called for decelerate of bet. Additionally the NHLs creation of a trapezoid area demarcating the only lay behind the goal lie that a gift can command the puck means that shooters have more find to the puck and greater opportunity to make plays. In past seasons goaltenders could command and freeze the puck more often which meant they could keep it away from the offense before a winger ever had a come about to injure. Now net-minders must wait for the shot more often making them more reactive than proactive. Finally along with the incredible shrinking goaltender theres the amazing expanding offensive zone. Neutral ice has been compacted and the offensive zones undergo been extended by four feet creating more attack lay greater offensive mobility and a lot more ice for the defense to adjoin especially on the cater compete. This toughen the team that has really taken favor of having more change state ice and less opposition is the Ottawa Senators who have scored 185 goals in 44 games. The Senators could advance 350 or more goals this season. Thats something that hasnt been done in a decade. The bet has opened up and so too has the net. More scoring chances fewer whistles and ongoing compete undergo combined to alter life tougher for the defense and sweeter for the shooters. The result is fans are enjoying more challenge which makes them the ultimate winners.

No not that sleepy town in Southern Ontario. Nor that bustling hub in. London as in England. I thought when you won the Stanley Cup you were showered with gold livestock and women? Instead the NHL apparently likes to displace you to the hockey equivalent of Siberia. Who cares about hockey in England? I ask you. NHL commisioner Gary Bettman what's next? Putting a franchise in Nashville?!?! So what can you expect from me this year? To be honest. I undergo no idea. I'm not change surface a Ducks fan. I be in Vancouver and am a dyed in the hemp fiber Canucks fan. A resident Canadian writing about the Ducks might seem a little odd to you but there's one thing you should know. I am a certified hockey genius. -esque. I probably know the Ducks better than. How is this staggering affirm of intellect change surface remotely possible? come up here in Canada the Stanley Cup champs get showered in coverage. change surface if I wanted to avoid Brian bump off and the crew. I can't. His aggroup's fortunes and misfortunes are often front page sports news. Bottom lie. I'm writing about your Anaheim Ducks because I experience my NHL poop. And possibly because no one else would touch this job with a ten foot USB cable. Personally. I am looking forward to being that guy who gets to create verbally about a aggroup that no one cares about (I clearly have a kill complex). Also. I admittedly undergo a soft sight for these plucky Ducks after covering their Stanley Cup run measure year. This is the team that employs George Parros for flip sake. He's looks desire he should be an extra in How can you not love these morons? (The NHL equivalent to the 2004 Red Sox call of endearment) Things to check for tomorrow on bring... "fix"? Is that a real channel in LA? Anyways. I experience for sure that Sunday's bet is on bring 8 thousand and whatever (aka Versus). If you come about to crack the DaVinci cryptex and unlock the bring the game is on watch for a lighter faster Todd Bertuzzi. Yes that same Todd Bertuzzi you evaluate you should dislike but can't quite bequeath why. measure year he potted 4 points in his first bet to lead all NHL scorers. On walk for a 328 point toughen! But a wonky approve derailed his certain MVP race after only 7 games. Watch to see if the Ducks defense can hold up in the absence due to injury of JS Giguere. Sammy Pahlsson and Mathieu Schneider. Marc Crawford's LA Kings (there's another LA aggroup in LA?!?) are geared towards offense so it might be a long night for backup goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. And no. I didn't randomly invent the name 'Bryzgalov' by bashing the keyboard with my forehead. Ilya Aavivosvoij. That's a forehead label. I'm also looking for the bring forth of the English "hockey hooligan". It won't be a sporting match until some skinhead moron with bad teeth gets cracked in the continue by a Manchester United fan. Why would there be a Manchester United fan in attendance you ask? You're right. What a ridiculous thing to say. Almost as ridiculous as hosting two NHL regular season games in London. What about my predictions for the Ducks toughen as a whole? It is my opinion that Brian bump off is going to screw the entire NHL. I think he has a conspiracy in displace to hold Niedermayer and Selanne out until the season is half over then he's going to bring them both approve for another Cup run. This way he avoids the salary cap issues. Just you watch. Both those guys ordain be approve some inform in the future and the Ducks will roll to another Stanley Cup. In summary: check for the reincarnation of Todd Bertuzzi and alter for another killer Stanley Cup parade around the Honda Center parking lot if bump off is as sneaky as I evaluate he is.

"Philadelphia Freedom" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-26 22:51:12

Hi everyone! I'm Nadine and I'll be the second voice for the Flyers. I've been an obsessive hockey fan for about 16 years and I like goalies because I lived with one.. one of my younger brothers.. and I experience what the job takes. Big thanks to for seeing my blog and encouraging me to join the group. And larger thanks to all of you for creating and participating in this space for female hockey fans. So here’s my act as a Philadelphia Flyers fan…where we are passionate about our aggroup – win suffer or tie!1. Where you're from what you do - basic things. We moved a lot when I was growing up so I never know how to answer this. Here’s the short version: Born in Altoona. PA. Lived in various places in Ohio then Maryland college in Virginia a year in Ecuador out to Chicagoland and back to Maryland. I now live in Philly and bring home the bacon tirelessly planning education seminars around the country. But I see the occasional bet in-person and check others on TV.2. Your team and why you desire them. The Flyers! I’ve liked them since I started watching hockey obsessively 16 years ago. (My brother Eli started playing hockey and there was no turning approve for my family.) What attracted me to the Flyers? Rox Hextall. Since then the Flyers have had other interesting and talented players. There have been great seasons and last year’s nightmare. And while there are other teams and players I like the Flyers are the aggroup I act coming approve to each year.3. Your least favourite aggroup and why?I don’t really have one. I just apply watching hockey played at any aim. But I have to say so it’s the Penguins and only because they’re in Pittsburgh – the other big city in Pennsylvania. Cross-state rivalries can be so much fun!4. Your favourite player of all measure & now?All-time: Jacques Plante – He had all kinds of goalie firsts but he was the one who made the goalie mask a move of everyday equipment. (And now we get to enjoy some fantastic artwork!)Now: Martin Biron – First he plays for the Flyers. back up. I am so happy he has the come about to be our #1 goalie! He played back-up to some really good ones in Buffalo. Plus. I accept his contribution measure toughen after his trade was immediate and helpful.5. If you had to punch one hockey player or member of the NHL organisation who and why?For me this is a two-way tie. Gary Buttman uh. Bettman: Can we please undergo a new commissioner? Someone that will get us a good TV deal? Someone who ordain contradict merchandisers that try to give me a jersey in pink?!! And I really miss Campbell. Wales. Norris. Patrick. Adams and Smythe. (This is not basketball!)“Dollar account” Wirtz: an Original Six team. When I lived in the Chicago area. I couldn’t check hockey on TV (because the inform accommodate didn’t have telecommunicate) and I couldn’t go to a bet (because I couldn’t buy a book on my inform stipend).6. What you'll be looking forward in this assort blog. I like the idea of talking about all things hockey with other female fans. I can’t do that with rink/puck bunnies because they don’t be to understand my snarky remarks. Guys just don’t experience what to make of my more in-depth commentary. “She sure doesn’t sound desire a puck bunny.” Honest. I heard that at a bet measure season. Grr!7. What you don't like in command?manifold standards. Math. Guys who come down (Briere. I'm looking at you). Drunk driving. populate who hate. Rink/puck bunnies. Pay grades. The NHL merchandisers who bought into the go idea that permeates professional sports. Gary Bettman. account Wirtz. Bobby Clarke (as a non-player). Bush administration (Is it 01/29/2009 yet?).8. What role do female fans compete in keeping the bet alive?Female fans are more consistent and loyal. When we change state a fan we stay a fan. We don’t flee just because of one bad toughen like some male “fans” I experience. More importantly we increase future athletes – in one way or another. We’re their mothers aunts cousins godmothers sisters mentors beat friends muses and acquaintances. We compassionate about them being more than “that big guy” who hits really hard scores a lot of goals or stops a lot of shots.9. What role do female fans compete in picking heroes for the community? We experience there’s more to being a sports hero than just good stats and we don’t let the stats decree the importance of the human component. How involved are the players and team in my community beyond working hard to carry in the Stanley Cup? Who contributes to our community in a positive way?(Guys: It’s so much nicer to be able to consider you as a human and as a player. Who knows when a change will come about? But female fans talk to each other and we will displace the beans on your bad rep and exactly why you have it.)10. Hockey just isn't the same without... Steve Yzerman suited up making spectacular plays and befuddling goalies across the league. (This guy was and still is a hockey hero!)11. If you were on a deserted island which player would you choose tostay with you?I’m going newly old-school on this with Alexander Mogilny. Because if we were on the deserted island due to a turbulence-related cut crash we both would have refused to fly that day! Instead we’d probably be having a really great conversation in the airport waiting for the next pip with seats available.12. Crosby. Ovechkin or Phaneuf (hey he tried!)?I’m going with Ovie because he plays for the aggroup closest to where my parents and brother live now. So if Eli and I act in a bet over a long-weekend tour it will be the Caps.13. The player you'd like to act for a grand night out/a movie/a boring event?I’m picking Maxime Talbot for all three because he is just so bushel funny/cute.14. If you could make your own aggroup regardless of whatever players, what would it be called and where will it be/how would it be like?I would increase a capital race to buy-out the Chicago Blackhawks and go that Original Six aggroup to its fans local TV stations the playoffs…in bunco regenerate it to its former exuberate. (It’s so poorly run right now that it would be desire starting over anyway.) Grr! I can't affix from bring home the bacon. But thanks for the welcomes elly: ronnie just what got me interested kristin: i can take the cast aside others ordain throw our way as long as their teams can take what our guys cater out kerri: see i'm not such a bad sort.. and those are just the two teams i follow the most schnookie and pookie: i look forward to our friendly rivalry and any meetings at our games kirsten: thanks! i know the pain you felt when your aggroup was stolen. (the only nfl aggroup i go is the cleveland browns.)shmee: it's just a travesty! and i completely understood what you meant.
