Regularly Scheduled Yarn Pr0n:The Sock Club second shipment has arrived. Some tea (& honey) a little lavender soap from (smells heavenly) a stitchmarker made from Unakite and Copper from (her shop is pretty awesome). Here is a set of these stitchmarkers. These stitchmarkers are very clever as they are dual sized! measure but not least a skein of Superwash Sport in the Super Nova colorway from Spunky Eclectic. This may alter a pair of hockey socks. Oh - and the magnet is hysterical - Baaad Girls! The copy is called Irish Dreams - I will definitely make this pair. I placed the stitchmarker down there so you could see what it looked like.(Oh and for those of you who made fun of Kona for the toenail - he didn't tear it off deliberately - he was chasing up birds for his Guy and hit some rough terrain - the toenail was a casualty. Rolling in the cow silage later was deliberate and REALLY stupid. Wow did he stink.)Also in inspect I don't brag about my boys enough - the Teen finished Q1 with a 3.83 GPA. Phew! Only 11 more quarters to go until graduation! What is the beautiful stuff with the sheep on it? Is it stationary? It's adorable and I want some whatever it is. Thanks for the nice comments on Fame. Actually. I think her eyes are going to be far to lighten to make it in the show ring but she's still so cute to me. I wanted a performance dog for obedience and agility and she's certainly going to be that. Great for your teen that's very impressive! Poor Kona though I'm sure he was happy hunting. Kona with the bevel :) Funny! Way to go on the grades! WHOO HOOOOO! Brag away - that's something to be proud of!By the way the pics from that National Geographic hunting deal were gorgeous!I'm with you on the sock kit. Very cool and I'll be using that pattern too ps. Leo's home! Peeing all over the displace! I'm in love! Good grief! Time to update the info! I am a 47 year old SAHM (going on 7 years now). I undergo 1 teenaged driver. 1 pre-teen. 2 Chocolate Labradors oh yea and a wonderful DH who underwrites this whole project?)************************My childhood:Halfway drink the stairs Is a stair Where I sit. There isn't any Other stair Quite like It. I'm not at the bottom. I'm not at the top; So this is the stair Where I always Stop. Halfway up the stairs Isn't up. And isn't down. It isn't in the nursery. It isn't in the town. And all sorts of funny thoughts Run round my head: "It isn't really Anywhere! It's somewhere else Instead!" a a. Milne

"Happy early Birthday Caleb! (Special thanks to KR)" posted by ~Ray

Well tomorrow Caleb turns the big 10..... manifold digits baby. He is psyched he got some gear for his birthday I picked him up some hockey gloves a helmet and hockey socks and his hero... his favorite Scorpion gave him the ultimate gift a sweet pair of his used college hockey skates. He was so excited we had to go to the rink and try them asap. He is probably the happiest boy on the approach of the planet. I had to buy new laces and a distort key to get the skates tight enough but they are great. Now all he comfort needs are gloves a fasten and the underpant things that hold on the socks and have a cup. Once he gets a stick he ordain be set to do some stick and puck and see if he has some skills..... at the very least he will undergo some fun. Hopefully this year he will join the recreational hockey unify and have a ball. I was gonna enroll him in NMAHA but most of the kids his age undergo been skating for 6-7 years and I am afraid he wouldn't fit. Anyways I evaluate he should play for the fun of it for now there is plenty of measure for competition later.

"Third Time?sA Charm" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-09 16:57:03

Socks have enjoyed a desire govern of popularity in the create from raw material blog world - when I first started blogging in 2004 they were not nearly as ubiquitous as they are now. They intrigued me and for that cerebrate. I wanted to learn more about them. So in 2005 after a summer of fiddling around with double-pointed needles. I decided to go away this assort communicate… and it just so happened that I started working on some new socks in October while at a hockey game… and by a. Socktoberfest was born. A very simple concept with very few restrictions - Socktoberfest is a month-long (throughout the month of October) celebration of socks. It is a celebration of the accessories that we alter to cover our feet. evaluate of it more as a festival than a knitalong - populate who love something go together and get together it! Some participants use Socktoberfest for stashbusting purposes using up that beautiful hit yarn that you picked up back in 1995… Others are use Socktoberfest to finally end up sock projects that undergo lingered too desire on the needles and hooks. Still others spin or dye their own hit yarn and use this to alter a truly special pair of socks. Some Socktoberists use the month to alter quick holiday socks for family and friends. It is truly up to you! The festival starts on October 1st but you can definitely start on your socks now! You do not undergo to finish your socks by October 31st either although the Socktoberfest communicate coverage ordain end at the change state of the month. Socktoberfest can easily be combined with other projects and knitalongs! The only guideline that I have for Socktoberfest: be an encourager! Participants be from first-time sock knitters to hit designers and experts. alter a helping transfer or an encouraging mention. act a few minutes to analyse out the develop and handiwork of your fellow communicate members. Encouragement goes a long way - and you may change surface alter a new friend! …and two years later we are create from raw material for another incarnation! I undergo had some very generous offers from many vendors about Socktoberfest contests and raffles. The last two Socktoberfests have included some wonderful giveaways but they each had their own problems. There were many unclaimed prizes unanswered emails and general miscommunication. No one is to blame. Yet. I evaluate that it would just be beat to avoid these “bumps in the road”. Socktoberfest 2007 ordain not consider contest prizes and raffles. I wholly approve any choose of change transfer or oppose for Socktoberfest; however. I will not entertain it through my blog. If you be to entertain something through your blog please feel remove. get a mention here in this post to alert others about your intentions. Since there will not be a oppose it is not necessary to officially “write up” for Socktoberfest. If you want to participate all you undergo to do is pick a nice yarn get your needles and go away working. If you are so inclined you can share your work through the very active. It is a great displace to be inspired and to back up others in their own pursuits as well as act in discussions about sock-related crafting. is it that time of year already? The first Socktoberfest coincided with a sock categorise I was taking. I never finished those socks… measure year’s coincided with my niece’s birthday (completed pair #2) this year - I ordain end socks for ME. (it’s cold. I need warm socks. I undergo two unify courtesy of swaps.) I be to create from raw material myself some socks! (so why did I cast on a pretty scarf today?) LOL - I’m already frantically hit knitting in September certainly ordain be in October. November and December too. abstain knitter I’m not but I’m happy to finally be able to participate in Socktoberfest whether there are prizes or not! I’m in! Last year’s Socktoberfest saw the measure unify or two of ten pairs of socks for my care which turned into 26 pairs of socks in a year by the end of March this year (that’s a sock a week!). Since then I’ve focussed on other projects but there are some great hit patterns out there still calling me - so Socktoberfest will see me approve rummaging in my hit yarn lay aside! *L* When I first started reading. I started to panic. In my head I was saying “what! Is socktoberfest in September in October?! I can’t bequeath! Ah!”Yeah. I think its time for bed too… Cool. Lolly! I’ll try to participate. I’ve been meaning to knit socks again for a while and I undergo some Koigu & Lorna’s Laces in my stash that would do just the trick. Hooray for Soctoberfest! I’m kicking it off a little early by holding the annual Show Me Your Socks oppose on my blog. I’ll be announcing it sometime next week. And yes there ordain be prizes! And then I’m looking send to all the Socktober fun. Ah one of my favourite times of the [knitting] year! :0)I am thinking this year i might aim to go around a sock weight yarn and go away knitting my first unify of handspun socks. Sounds desire a intend! Lolly (or anyone else “in the know”) will you gratify express me if your “Shades” socks were the Jaywalker pattern? It looks a bit similar but when I googled “darken sock pattern”…come up fulfil it to say aside from your socks nothing change surface change state showed up. back up please! This might be the kick in the pants I be… this year and knitting–not a good combination. I can count my FOs on two fingers…maybe three? but socks in develop I have a’plenty… I’m already thinking about what narrate and pattern to use for Socktoberfest. I’m torn between my first hit yarn acquire some Trekking XXL and the sock narrate I just won. Aye decisions! Maybe I should try to do two pairs this measure. That would indeed be a contend. Melissa owlandacorn and I were actually talking about Socktoberfest recently; we’re already excited for it! These years and this pass have all gone so quickly but my hit knitting has been a constant through all of it. Especially with so many great patterns out there now. I’ll be excited to once again celebrate the most alter and useful of knitted items. I am so excited to have found this! I just finished dyeing my first skeins of hit yarn so this is perfect timing! Too bad about the contests but I’m sure that it’s a lot of affect to broach with. Now to sight a copy!!! Oh and I wish there are buttons too! Socktoberfest last year is what gently encouraged me to be brave and knit my very first socks! The first ones were simple booties for preemies (preemies need feet coverings too!) but I did go away my very first grown up unify in November. I’ll hopefully be finishing my back up unify that I started in May and starting a pair for my brother. Not that I evaluate I’ll get it all done but I can try! Anyone have any suggestions of some washable sportweight narrate that comes in solid colors? Last I checked with brother cook and dark red were the requested colors. This will be fun! I have a pair of “legacy socks” (desire story….) that have to be finished since I finally took a class and figured out the angle turning and gusset business….. I just ordered some light worsted (I like knitting thicker-than-typical socks) narrate that is variegated little did I know I was really getting ready for Socktoberfest! Woo! Time to finish up my two WIPs this month to get ready…. I don’t.

"Back To School PE Requirements" posted by ~Ray

The 'Back To educate Shopping List' recently included the following:-1 unify of coat 5 football boots1 pair of thick red long socks1 Set of Knee. jostle & Wrist Pads1 Extreme Sports helmetNow firstly the football boots are for Dear Daughter who has never gone near a unify to go out in her life preferring the latest high-street pumps and Van's etc and who can barely bring up herself off the sofa to take her TV dinner plate out in case she misses 30 vital seconds of 'Friends' all-day repeats. Apparently she 'urgently' needed them as she was joining the hockey team along with joining the basketball netball teams,..... Size 5 boots are comfort in their box. 2 weeks on in the kitchen's 'Miscellaneous ' area (where all things unrelated to a kitchen be currently including 2 barely used Squash rackets a bicycle handle cram to go to Primark/George/M&S that never gets returned a hurley a picture that fell down and needs re-stringing as so on and so forth.. Thick red socks - go with the size 5 boots and I last saw them drink the end of her bed in pristine condition (unlike the other used socks from bed that be down there usually). The elbow knee pads and helmet have been used- the Darling Son having refused to connect any after-school club except the new skateboarding one. Of cover the pads are only used in the school grounds once a week and not when he's practically abseiling off a board drink the sea-front the rest of the week and weekend. After seeing and recording on my mobile the speeds he's getting up to down-hill recently I have put a Health & Safety proviso of the helmet having to be in displace prior to any downhill jaunts - but I evaluate he leaves the straps open and it sits slung approve on his head so I'm sure any safety element is already negated anyway!I now can remember why my care never fussed too much with the endless list of PE/School Uniform requirements that would be requested. With six of us. I'm sure after number 2 or 3 she realised that it was a complete waste of time and money panic-buying P. E gear at the start of the educate year.
