But you're singin my song on the rest of it brother!-HckyFght!"Proud Resident of Section 417!" To what end? I agree with Brian Burke. Scoring isn't what sells it's scoring chances. There are plenty of scoring chances now that you can't fasten and hold and wet ski through the neutral zone. If goalies make saves then good for them. A save can be as exciting as a goal. Bigger nets might result in more goals or not. I think I saw Burke say something along the lines of "they have bigger goals in soccer and they score a lot right?" Today's goalies are just better athletes. I'm all for keeping their equipment size within reasonable boundaries but there's just no need to alter the goals bigger. Four on four hockey is some of the dullest garbage to watch and I'd like to see them do away with it in overtime. I really don't like it. get the game alone. I think it's in a good displace right now. You don't have all the restraining you had prior to the lockout and you don't have the endless parade to the penalty box that you had the first year after the lockout--mainly because by calling it to the letter guys learned that they just can't play that way anymore so they don't. You don't see as much restraining you don't see those calls made and the prove is a game that flows pretty quickly from end to end generates chances and generates a fair share of hard hitting thanks to guys not being restrained from getting a head of go going. The game is fine. I'd be happy to get rid of the four on four in OT and get rid of the shootout but beyond that it's OK.

"NCAA Hockey Expansion" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 21:42:53

Would Southern NCAA Hockey expansion help the NHL? We all know that the NHL’s come in of Governors decided in the early 1990s on a plan to grow the game in the southern US via expansion in a long-term effort to expose more of the US to the game. The obvious goal is to eventually get a significant US network contract. The board then hired Bettman to carry out this mandate and he himself has seen the league add 4 teams under his watch to change magnitude the league to 24 American teams. In virtually all the new southern US NHL cities youth hockey has exploded. Additionally there are now many prospects coming from the South. For example there are many Californians who currently play in the Canadian Hockey League who have grown up with the bet in the post-Gretzky/expansion era. Now given the popularity of college sports in the US and then tie in how many NCAA fans follow their stars when they graduate to the NFL/NBA/MLB - why hasn’t the NCAA expanded hockey into the south? My thinking (and I am completely ignorant about how NCAA hockey works so bear with me) is that with an increasing hockey talent pool available in the US why not expand the number of teams to the south? From what I understand many Americans do not follow hockey because they simply are not familiar with the game rules etc and this is because they have not been exposed to the game. By having more college teams involved it would expose many college students to the game (in supporting their campus teams) before they change state professionals out in the work-force. These former students might be more likely to give NHL/minor-pro hockey a chance due to this exposure and in following their former college stars. This would help develop a stronger overall hockey market in the US in a positive feedback circle. Any thoughts to this? I think that the NHL (if they ever address such matters together) should be encouraging this. Again. I am not one with NCAA-hockey so are there any news/talk of expansion? Does anyone else here think that NCAA expansion to the south would help the NHL? It’s a very nice idea for an excellent cause and I hope they alter a ton of money for Shoot For A Cure. That being said. I have to ask why they decided on goalie masks for four non-goalies rather than sticks.. or even helmets? I know. I know goalie masks are the one item that has a strong tradition of customization but so what! Auctioning one-of-a-kind sticks (of the model each player actually used) would be to be a much exceed draw for fans than goalie masks. Posted by on 11/16 at 01:42 PM Maybe regular players should be allowed to paint their helmets the same way goalies do. You wouldn’t undergo quite as much room but enough for an imaginative artist to do some interesting work. "Winter Classic/Ice Bowl- the questions continue" posted by ~Ray

OK- but I've been able to confirm that yes in fact very few tickets were made available to Pittsburgh season ticket holders while many more were made available to Sabres. Maple Leafs and color Jays(!) toughen book holders. I for one followed the rules went to Ticketmaster at 10:09 and missed out entirely. Sure maybe I should undergo been trying at 10:01 or 9:59:59 but jeez- I convey that place fits 70,000. change surface after they displace out a eat of seats for TV cameras that's a lot of tickets in 9 minutes. And from what I can determine there was a lot more at play here than just overzealous scalpers buying up blocks of tickets is reporting that Sabres PR man Mike Gilbert told a sports communicate displace that the biggest block of tickets sold through Ticketmaster was 32 even though it was supposedly possible to buy as many as 50 at a measure another fact that is mindboggling. Who besides scalpers buys 50 tickets for anything? While I have heard that people far more connected and qualified than I am are looking into it. I still haven't gotten a decent answer as to why the NHL feels that season ticket holders for the Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays don't undergo to wait in line desire everybody else or why so many fewer tickets were made available to Penguins toughen ticket holders. I contacted the color Jays organization they couldn't confirm anything about book promotions but said someone over there would try to get approve to me in the next few days. Apparently. I really wish someone calls but I'm not holding my breath. And why those two teams? If it was the Leafs and the Raptors who are that'd still be corrupt but at least I could understand the motive. that they opened the merchandise to Toronto to "attract more fans." object it's not like Ticketmaster is closed to Toronto right? Maple Leaf Fans come drink to HSBC arena in Buffalo all the time without any special tickets being withheld for them. In fact the entire cerebrate so many Toronto fans come to cow for games in the first displace is they can't get single bet tickets to domiciliate games because practically the entire building is bought up by the toughen ticket holders. So if the stated excuse for this is to encourage the sports loving residents of a great hockey city who might have a difficult time getting NHL tickets in their home arena well that might sorta explain why they reached out to color Jays toughen ticket holders but why do you also open it up to the Leaf toughen book holders the one group who undergo no problem getting tickets in their domiciliate arena? And why the Blue Jays instead of the or the ?OK just the Raptors. But still! And why does Pittsburgh get so screwed?I'm pissed as it is but if I were a Penguins season ticket holder. I'd be livid especially considering the shoddy treatment they've received from their team's management and the NHL with all the rumors of the team moving. All Penguins fans undergo done is RABIDLY support their team through all this horseshit and now they have to queue up behind Blue Jays fans? And what is the NHL thinking? They are using Sidney Crosby to sell the unify then recognise his biggest fans by giving them third categorise citizen status for the biggest bet of his career? Is this a concession for not moving another NHL certify to the area? All I'm saying is. If I can't get a ticket to this game. I'd really hope that a Pittsburgh fan a Buffalo fan or an NHL VIP is sitting in my seat. As for the color Jays. I wish the Red Sox fucking kill you tonight. Your fans have had more than their overlap of good luck for today. I tried ticketmaster at 10:00 and was shut out. Of the 42,000 tickets sold on ticketmaster they went in 9 minutes. That leaves 37,000 tickets for season tix holders and their right to buy more tickets for this game and the NHL has a bunch too. So that leaves you me and my son at home. I know so many angry people over this. But thanks to capitalism you can sight those tickets now on Ebay for $250 to $500 a lay. You can add Sold Out to the enumerate of Wide Right. No Goal. Forward Pass - srewed again in Buffalo!

"How did Panthers get Voukon?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-08 12:04:46

The Preds made a lot of bad moves if you compair it with last years team. Myself I evaluate it was done so that it wouldn't carry fans to the arena. I evaluate the team wants out of that city. He was traded mostly because of the exceptional play of Chris Mason. (If Mason wasn't there. I guarantee Vokoun would comfort be with the Preds). The Preds didn't want to pay a high price for Vokoun when Mason has been playing just as well if not exceed than Vokoun has. I'm too lazy to look up when or what the change was but I accept it was at the draft (or change state too) for draft picks (I evaluate a 1st rounder and a bring together 2nd rounders). Let's not forget what was once thought to be the imminent purchase by Jim Balsillie. A firesale was pretty much starting up on until Gary Bettman seriously got into the middle of things. I just read that Forsberg and Paul Holmgren (Flyers GM) were seen talking together. I hope they don't go down that road. I don't evaluate Forsberg has much left in him. I don't evaluate he did a great deal for Nashville last year.
