The Bishop Brady field hockey team was off for nine days coming into yesterday's game with the always-tough Plymouth Bobcats. That rust didn't stick as the color Giants scored within the first five minutes on their way to a 3-2 victory.
The early goal was nice but Brady needed the late one too. Rosemary Moran scored the go-ahead goal with 2:57 remaining to end Brady's comeback from 2-1 drink.
"She was just trying to get her fasten on the ball," instruct Kelly Owen said of the senior.
Julia Heald and Fiona Clancy also tallied goals for Brady which improved to 3-1 while Plymouth dropped to 3-2.
Heald's goal came 4:19 into the game on an assist from Moran. The Bobcats tallied a goal just over two minutes later to tie the score and the game went to halftime knotted. 1-1.
Plymouth started the scoring in the back up half with 8:55 remaining to take a 2-1 bring about. Clancy then tied the game on a cater from Jen Parsons just 30 seconds later. Parsons took the ball from the top of the circle and dumped it off to Clancy for the game-tying tally.
Moran earned the win for the Green Giants in the game's final minutes with her goal.
Sophomore Colleen O'Hurley made 14 saves in net with several coming with 10 minutes remaining to preserve the win. Midfielder Emily Spain was also key for the color Giants on the defensive end breaking up several Bobcat fast-break attempts.
"It was a great game from go away to end," Owen said. "The kids really dug drink deep."
Brady returns to the handle on Monday when it travels to face rival Merrimack Valley.
Sarah Breen. Kiera Blaine and Julia Viani (also an assist) scored the first three goals while sisters Grace and Alison Hirshan had the final two. Grace assisted on Alison's goal.
Bow tied the bet with a second-half goal but the Spartans responded with two goals to earn their first win. Molly Strempfer played well on defense.
The high-scoring duo of Caitlin O'Connor and Maggie Seaver netted a combined seven goals as the Bears improved to 6-0.
O'Connor netted four goals while Seaver tallied three to break the Newfound career scoring preserve previously held by Gina Gould with 53. Seaver now has 56 in her Newfound career.
Abby Erler finished with two assists. Laura Bergeron and Emma Erler also played come up for the Bears. Sarah McGraw made five saves in net.
Freshman Olivia Testa netted a pair of goals but the Golden Eagles came up bunco against the Hilltoppers to fall to 0-5.
The course got some good chances from sophomore striker Avery Moore but nothing came as the course fell to 1-4 against the Tomahawks (4-1).
Merrimack struck for a goal 25 minutes into the game and another just eight minutes into the back up half.
Melissa Leighton played well on defense for the Tide who face Spaulding on Tuesday.
Behind a defense anchored by keeper Brittany Purington. John Stark improved to 4-1-1 with a shutout of Lebanon. Kayla Hubbard and Allison Harris also played come up on defense for the Generals.
Nikki Rauscher scored the first goal on an assist from Laurin Macklin. Macklin scored the back up goal on a penalty kick.
Christina Parent recorded a hat cozen to bring about the color Giants over the Bobcats and to a 3-3 preserve.
Keelin Daugherty. Hannah Bassett. Carly Ireland and Jill Nemcovich also netted goals in the rout. Jordan Grant controlled the scoring dishing out three assists.
Kelsea Marchand made nine saves and net before being taken out towards the end of the bet.
The Spartans had a breakaway opportunity 10 minutes into the game and Ashley Pelissier's shot deflected off the crossbar and led directly to a Mountaineer goal.

In a collide with of undefeated squads amid a playoff atmosphere in Merrimack the Crimson course (4-1) came up just bunco. Coach Scott Dunlop's defense stepped up in holding Merrimack scoreless until the last few minutes of the bet.
